Budget and Appropriations Committee chair Ndindi Nyoro has assured Kenyans that essential expenditures, such as the employment of Junior Secondary School (JSS) teachers and subsidised fertiliser, will not be affected by budget cuts.

Nyoro stated that the 46,000 JSS teachers on internship will be employed on permanent and pensionable terms, ensuring fair compensation.

He also underscored the importance of agriculture, stating that subsidised fertiliser will continue to be available for farmers across the country.

Nyoro also assured farmers that Sh10 billion for subsidised fertiliser will be included in the new budget as the committee adjusts it next week.

He also mentioned that the money allocated for milk price stabilisation will not be affected, with the budget of Sh2.25 billion cushioning dairy farmers from low milk prices during the rainy season.

An additional two billion shillings will be allocated for the coffee cherry fund, bringing the total amount to Sh6.8 billion.

Kenyan leaders will review the proposed budget and reduce it by about 177 billion shillings.
