Job Description

The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) is an independent Commission established under Article 237 of the Constitution of Kenya, 2010.

The Commission invites applications from qualified, experienced, result oriented and highly motivated Kenyans to fill the following position:

Duties and Responsbilities

Duties and responsibilities will entail: –

1. Ensuring implementation of internal audit policies, strategies and work plans;
2. Serving as the Secretary to the Audit Committee;
3. Presenting audit reports to the Audit Committee;
4. Developing and reviewing the Internal Audit Charter;
5. Liaising with external audits;
6. Providing assurance on the Commission’s Risk management processes;
7. Reviewing and approving the adequacy of audit findings and recommendations;
8. Obtaining management comments on the audit findings;
9. Coordinating special audits;
10. Ensuring compliance with established policies, plans, procedures and processes at the Commission;
11.    Leading the preparation and implementation of the internal audit budget; and
12.   Supervising and guiding employees in the Directorate for optimum performance.

Requirements

For appointment to this grade, an officer must have: –

1. Served in the grade of Senior Deputy Director or Deputy Director – Internal Audit for a minimum period of three (3)years;

            OR

Eight (8) years’ experience in a comparable position;

2. Bachelor’s degree in a Business-related field majoring in Finance or Accounts, Statistics, Economics, Information Technology (IT), Computer Science or any other relevant qualification from a recognized Institution;

3. Master’s degree from a recognized Institution is an added advantage;

4. Certified Public Accountants (CPA K) or Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA finalist) or Certified Internal Auditor (CIA III) or Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA);

5. Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) is an added advantage;

6. Membership to ICPAK or IIA in good standing;

7. Certificate in Leadership Course or equivalent qualification lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution

8. Met the requirements of Chapter Six (6) of the Constitution;

9. Demonstrated merit and ability as reflected in work performance and result.
