KNEC instructs schools to correct errors on candidates’ photo albums; Procedure on how to effect the corrections

The Kenya National Examinations Council, KNEC, has instructed schools to make corrections on photographs of this year’s Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination candidates. Via a circular dated 27th May, 2019 KNEC Acting Chief Executive Officer Dr Mercy Karogo asks all the 2019 KCSE candidates to verify and sighn against their passport size photographs on the already dispatched schools’ photo albums. The Council says all cases of mismatch and missing photographs should be communicated officially and in writing by the Examination Centre Managers; the school principals. Other corrections expected to be reported are those of blurred images and overstretched photo graphs.

The Photo albums will be used during the administration of this year’s KCSE examinations as has been the norm to enable Supervisors ensure that there no impersonation cases. The same photographs will also be imprinted on the candidates’ KCSE Certificates.

Data obtained from knec shows that some 1,089,671 candidates have been registered to sit standard eight examinations in 28, 291 centres across the country. While, 698, 935 candidates have been enlisted to sit form four examinations across the country in 10,304 exam centers; Totalling to 1.7 million candidates. According to the released KNEC timetables, KCPE exams will be done from October 28 to 31. KCSE exams, on the other hand, will kick off on November 4 and shall end on November 27.

‘SUBJECT: DISPATCH OF 2019 KCSE PHOTO ALBUMS

The Kenya National Examinations Council has dispatched the 2019 KCSE photo albums for verification by candidates.

All the 2019 KCSE candidates are required to verify and sign against their photos in readiness for the administration of the 2019 KCSE examinations,

In view of the above, the/Council requires that:-
1). All cases of photo mismatch and missing photos be officially communicated to KNEC accompanied by the correct candidates’ photo(s) saved in a Computer/ Compact Disk (CD) correctly labelled together with the photo album with errors by 20th August 2019,
2). All cases of blurred and horizontally aligned photos should be redone, saved in a computer disk (CD) and submitted to KNEC with a letter indicating their details by 20th August 2019.
3). The signed photo albums without errors should be securely kept to be handed over to the supervisor for use during the administration of the 2019 KCSE examination.’
